Baby Showers became popular toward the end of the 19th century and usually giving for the first child. The baby shower was generally an afternoon party. Victorian ladies held teas for the new mom after the baby was born. During the 1800s pregnant women did not appear in public. By the turn of the 20th century, the teas transformed into "showers" (based on the "showering" of the bride before her marriage) and umbrellas became symbolic of a baby shower. It was custom for ladies to carry parasols when attending afternoon gatherings. Most of the gifts were handmade except the silver that was given to the babies by the grandmothers. Today Baby Showers are the norm, we give them for each new child a woman has because each child is a unique and precious gift. A Baby shower is hosted a family member from either side. Sometimes Baby Showers will be given by both sides of the family. Then there are the Baby Showers from co workers and friends. The only prerequisite for hosting a Baby showers is to love and care for the Mom-to-be. Many people wait purposefully for the baby to arrive, either from cultural belief or other reasons before the Baby Shower is given, while others have the Baby Shower somewhere around the 7th -9th month of pregnancy . Baby Shower party supplies like paper plates, napkins, and cups are a perfect way to complete a Baby Shower Party Theme. Party decorations like inflatables, and beads add to the magic of a Baby Showers. Loot bags tucked in Baby Showers hats can be a centerpiece and double as party prizes. Party favors like giant safety pins, masks, party poppers, confetti and glow jewelry create a harmonious environment and the festive spirit of a Baby Shower Party Theme.
