Beads can be found almost as far back in history as humans themselves. The oldest known beads were from the Neanderthal people, dating back to around 38,000 BC in France. These beads were made from animal teeth and bone. Other early beads were made from colorful stones and seashells then string on string of plant fibers. Beads were worn for protection, good luck, trading and adornment. Today people are still fascinated by beads and its no wonder due to the wide variety available. There are beads of every shape, size and color you can possibly imagine. Beads are excellent for parties, costumes, gifts and Mardi Gras celebrations.
