With Summersaults, Cartwheels and back-flips a gymnastics themed party promises to be an energy-packed experience. For all those budding gymnasts, it’s a great way to encourage them to pursue their talents. So be sure to involve your child into every aspect of the preparation and planning. Give your party an Olympic flavor by playing its theme music or including the “5 rings” symbol into the decorations. Display any of the medals and trophies you may have in the house. It makes for a great conversation starter. To get everyone involved in the theme, fashion a balancing beam at home so every one can have a go at it. Have a baton and gymnastic Ribbons (Streamers) ready so that guests can practice their rhythmic gymnastics. For activities, a good idea might be to have a hula hoop or limbo competition. Frisbees are always a hit with kids and goes perfectly with the gymnastics theme so have those handy too. And don’t forget to lay out a mat for everyone to show off their cart-wheeling ability! |

Gymnastics Game Ideas
Balance Game: Who says you need a balance beam to balance? One of the most important aspects about Gymnastics is balance. The goal of this game is to be the last one standing.
Setup:
1. Balance beam if you have one
2. One ball per person that is large enough to sit on
3. Music
4. Leader (adult)
Playing:
The leader will let the group of children know which move to do by demonstrating it. As the leader calls each move, the children will hold it until they fall. The first one that falls is out of the running and the other participants move on to another move. The cycle keeps going until only one person remains.
To make it more challenging, you can alternate moves rapidly and eliminate people as they cannot hold their balance on the change in stance.
