Medieval Games
MEDIEVAL MUSICAL CHAIRS: This is definitely one of the kids, although drunk adults have been known to play it after quaffing a little too much ale. You can either place pictures of medieval items on the floor or attach them to chairs. Start with one item/chair less than there are people and as you play music the guests must walk around the chairs or items. As the music stops they must find the nearest medieval object and either sit on the chair or stand on the picture. The last one remaining is the winner and can be given a suitable medieval prize. Any of the guests brave enough to turn up with a knight’s helmet on will find this a particularly challenging game.
Serving medieval fare in a medieval banquet can be an excellent way to theme a party. Don’t prepare fancy food but prepare lots of good, hearty food that can be picked up and eaten. Wenches should serve chicken wings, chicken pieces, ribs and other meat that you can easily devour with your hands as well as large jugs of ale. Decorate your banquet hall using armor, weapons and other cutouts that give your banquet hall a truly medieval feel. Pictures of knights defeating dragons are another good choice and you could always ‘employ’ a court jester or musician.
