| Motorcycles like Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, Indian and Harley-Davidson are all a party on the road for those who seek adventure on classic roadways like Rout 66 "the Mother Road". Motorcycles came about not long after the introduction of the first bicycle near the end of the 19th century. Some people felt the bicycle was not fast enough so they strapped on an engine and the motorcycle was born. Two men in particular named William S. Harley and Arthur Davidson preformed many experiments and made motorcycle building what it is today. You may have heard of their little company they started in 1903, The Harley-Davidson Motor Company. Today Harley-Davidson is one of the most respected manufacturers of motorcycles and their line of motorcycles is world renowned. The sales in the United States are at the top of the industry and every bike manufactured is sold before it ever leaves the factory. In the late 50s Japanese bikes started to show up on the market. By the 60s Japanese Motorcycles like Honda were becoming a real threat to companies like Harley-Davidson because their bikes were faster, cheaper to buy and easier to handle. Motorcycle parties and gatherings are a popular way for bikers to share their love of motorcycles and the culture that goes with them. | |
