As everyone is dancing, this participant puts the red hat on a lady's head who is dancing and says, "people don't dance with the red hat on" and begins to dance with the partner of this dancer. The lady with the red hat moves to any other pair and put the red hat on the lady’s head so that she now dances with a new partner and that dancer must find a new partner etc. The red hat society is a group of women who wear red hats and purple dresses to a tea.
