You only retire once, so a retirement party, complete with Retirement Party Supplies, is usually quite a big deal. Party planning should incorporate this one-of-a-kind feel to it with some out of the ordinary devices to make the day memorable. Start with your invitations. Borrow a program that allows you to create a newsletter, and make a mock newspaper front page as your invitations. Use a picture of the retiree, and announce, as the Top Story of the day that the retirement party day is now a holiday. Describe the events that will take place that day, along with a list of the dignitaries who plan to attend. Also ask invitees to drop off items and pictures that commemorate the retiree's working life before a certain date, to set up and display at the party. Then, choose a color scheme, and make sure to cover the party space with balloons, crepe paper, and "Happy Retirement!" banners. Set up a hammock made out of tulle for gifts, with a real hammock out back, complete with a comfy pillow, place to put the retirees drink, radio, newspaper and other paraphernalia that the retiree would relax with.
