This annual holiday was originally organized in 1952 as "National Secretaries Week" by the National Secretaries Association (a.k.a. the International Association of Administrative Professionals) in conjunction with a consortium of office product manufacturers. It was established as an effort to recognize secretaries for their contributions in the workplace. The NSA wanted to attract people to secretarial/administrative careers. Secretaries Day is not an official national holiday, it is a people holiday. This day is celebrated worldwide, bringing together millions of people for community events, educational seminars, and individual corporate activities recognizing support staff with gifts of appreciation. In the United States cards and bouquets of flowers often arrive on the desk of our Secretaries. Some offices give their Secretaries delicious chocolate or the day off from work. This is the Secretaries big day make it special. Let your office team know how much you appreciate all of their work. Have a catered lunch in the office or take the whole staff out for the best meal they ever had. Party supplies like paper plates, napkins, and cups are a perfect way to complete a Secretaries Day Party Theme.
