Seventies Party Theme
The Seventies boasted new culture, media and television shows, all geared towards the working class; use this fact to throw a Seventies Party Supplies themed event, and you’ll have your friends rollicking in their chairs! M*A*S*H was one of the favorite TV shows in the seventies, so getting your guests to both dress up as their favorite character and go along with the antics at the event shouldn’t be too difficult of a task. Green is the theme, so make sure your military-inspired invites (or fake draft cards) give telltale signs to invitees what is expected of them. To decorate, fill your space with military memorabilia and practical joke triggers from the show (such as a chicken in a teapot, from Charles’ first day at the 4077, courtesy of Hawkeye, or binoculars with the eyeholes covered in black shoe polish, from the prank pulled on Colonel Potter).
Keep the party theme flowing throughout each aspect of
the event. First, the party invitations set the theme and tone of
the occasion. Some guests will bring gifts based on the Seventies
party theme. Use Seventies
decorations, centerpieces,
tablecovers, Thank you notes, invitations, party supplies, hats, blowouts, confetti,
paper plates, cups, napkins etc. Complete the Seventies party theme
with Seventies party favors.

Remember the seventies with a theme party your friends won’t forget for another couple of decades to come, complete with Seventies Party Supplies like pet rocks, mood rings, disco balls, polyester everything and eight-track stereos. Ask your guests to come dressed up as their favorite Seventies’ celebrity, such as John Travolta, Richard Nixon, or a character from the Jetsons, the Brady Bunch, or the Partridge Family, and let them know it’ll be a disco night, so they’d better wear dancing shoes. Make room for a dance floor, and change a couple of the light bulbs in the party space to unusual colors such as red, green and yellow for a more festive feel. Then, crank up the 70’s tunes. You could go with a cheesy feel for the music, such as the Village People, KC and the Sunshine Band and Rick Dees (remember Disco Duck?). Or, you could remember what really make the Seventies rock with a compilation of some of the amazing acts to come out of that decade: David Bowie, the Eagles, the Sex Pistols, the Ramones, the Talking Heads, Bruce Springsteen and the Pretenders. Offer up some of the weirder phenomena of the Seventies as well, with people trying to convince party-goers to join the Unification Church, or host a Patty Hearst-style pretend kidnapping of a guest. Have a Rolfer on-duty to massage out the woes of your guests, and get everyone to ‘let go’ with some Primal Scream Therapy before the night is over.
