ESPN's 'The World Series of Poker' and the Travel Channel's 'The World Poker Tour' have both publicized Texas Hold'em Parties and Texas Hold'Em Party Supplies to the point of where theme parties using similar ideas have sprouted up everywhere. It's the hottest craze at the moment, and with a bit of planning, you can create your own fun-filled poker night extravaganza. First, contact a local casino, and ask them if they have any cards you can use for your game. Since casino's regularly buy new ones, and punch holes in the old ones so as not to repeat usage, they normally have lots on hand. They may also have old props you can either borrow or rent for the occasion. You'll need to purchase about 50-100 poker chips per person, and create some sort of value scheme per color. Normally, casino's use $1 for white, $5 for red, $10 for blue, $25 for green and $100 for black. Also make sure to have lots of munchies on hand for the event, some sort of party favor to show who the dealer is at each table, and have a set of rules printed out for each guest (or maybe attach them to the invitations, so everyone knows beforehand). And finally, you'll need to decide what party theme you want to adopt: casino style or country and western. Either idea has a myriad of easy decorating ideas that will delight your guests. For a casino theme for instance, you could over the space with glitz, glam and glitter Vegas-style, complete with gold chocolate coins, dancing girls and show tunes.
