Throw an Under the Sea Party for your child's next birthday. Start with a plan for your decorating and pick a color theme. Will it be shades of blue and green or a bright tropical rainbow of color? Perhaps set up the buffet table with a blue tablecloth and a lighter shade of blue for the plates and silverware. Don't forget to make sure it's plastic and easy to clean up. Children love fish sticks as a main course. You could call it fish and chips and serve up some French fries and vinegar to go with them. For the birthday cake why not make up lots of little cakes or cookies in the simple outline of a fish. Then you can use the icing to make fins, gills, scales and eyes. The kids can all pretend to be sharks while they are eating. It will certainly be a feeding frenzy. You may wish to have the party outside, especially if you have a pool so the kids can play party games in the water. Try throwing in an inflatable, like sharks and starfish. Set up an arts and crafts table to keep children occupied with a variety of projects. Some popular ideas are making sea creature puppets, building a fish out of modeling paste to set in the sun to dry, and building a sea creature out of construction paper and fuzzy piping, glitter or stickers. Buy some of those gold wrapped coins and toss them into the sand box for children to go treasure hunting for. You can also put them into a decorated party favor bag with bath sponges that expand into the shapes of sea creatures in the water, or sea shells, or even little grow your own sea monkey aquariums.
